Accessibility Information

At Consider It Therapy, we are committed to providing suitable access for all our guests and clients, whatever their individual needs. We hope this section of our website helps those with disabilities and additional needs to plan their visits to our practice.

 

This access guide does not contain our personal opinion as to the suitability of the practice for those with access needs. It aims to describe accurately the facilities and services we offer to enable our guests and clients to check that the access is suitable for their needs. 

 

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you are in any doubt or to arrange a “familiarisation visit” prior to your first session with us. 

Getting to our address

Consider It Therapy is located on the 4th floor of Baltic Chambers at 50 Wellington Street, Glasgow, G2 6HJ.  The offices are in Suite 436-437.

Travelling by train

Our closest train station is Central Station, approximately 320 metres distance, or 5 minutes walk. From Glasgow Queen Street Station, the distance is 804 metres, or approximately a 12 minute walk.

 

There are dropped kerbs at pedestrian crossings on the route from either station to our building.

Travelling by subway

The nearest subway stop to our location is St Enoch. This is 483 metres from our building, approximately 8 minutes walk.

Travelling by bus

There are several bus routes which run near to our building.

 

At the time of writing, First Bus lines 1D, 38, 500, 60, 60A, 9, X4 and McGill’s Bus line 3 have a stop close by to Baltic Chambers.  Additional bus lines stopping one block away, outside Central Station.

Travelling by bike

Our building does not have a public bike store. There are on-street bike rails located close to our building, on the corner of Waterloo Street and Argyle Street, which are free to use. A secure on-street bike store is located on Bothwell Street and Wellington Street; this can be accessed and paid for using the Cyclehoop app.

Travelling by car

There is limited on-street parking outside our building on Wellington Street and nearby on Holm Street, Cadogan Street and West Campbell Street. These parking spaces are metred and have a 2-hour maximum stay limit. 

Blue badge holders can park for any length of time, free of charge, at on-street pay and display areas in Glasgow, but there are no designated disabled spaces.

The nearest multi-story car parks are the QPark on Waterloo Street, approximately 3 minutes walk away, and Cadogan Square Car Park on Cadogan Street, approximately 6 minutes walk away. There are designated accessible parking spaces in the Cadogan Square car park.  Please note that the standard tariff for parking applies to disabled parking in this car park, and the Blue Badge scheme does not apply. 

From the building entrance to our therapy rooms

Building entrance

The main entrance of the building is located at 50 Wellington Street. There are eight steps up from the street to the foyer, with a handrail on either side of the stairs. The main entrance is accessed through a large, glass front door, which can be pushed open, and then through an automatic second door at the top of the stairs. 

There is also step-free/wheelchair access available via a wheelchair lift located next door to the main entrance at 44 Wellington Street. This is operated by the building’s café and concierge staff.  Simply buzz for access through this entrance within the hours 8 am - 4 pm. If you require step-free access after 4pm, please contact us directly to arrange this in advance of your visit.

Foyer & lifts

From the building foyer, there are two lifts available to take you up to the 4th floor.  

The doors of the lift have 80cm clearance. There are handrails within the lift at 87cm high. The lift controls are positioned at 93cm high and have braille button labels. All lift buttons will light up when activated. The turning circle space within the lift is 100cm.

Fourth floor

After exiting the lift on the 4th floor, our practice is accessed through a set of double doors on the right-hand side and then via a 170cm wide corridor, which is lit with overhead lighting. The corridor is level throughout and is obstacle-free. There are no handrails or seating provided in the corridor. This length of corridor contains a right-angle turn. Consider It Therapy is at door 436-437, labelled with our practice name at the door.

Please enter through the practice door and take a seat in the waiting area.

Inside the practice

The door to our practice is 95cm wide, and opens with a straight handle. The floors are level throughout the practice.  

Waiting room

When you enter the waiting room, there is a lamp to your right, followed by a fabric sofa with wooden arms.  The seat of the sofa in the waiting area is 160cm wide, 50cm deep and 42cm high.

Behind the entrance door is a water cooler with ambient and cold water options. Please help yourself to water.

The lighting in this room will either be a standard lamp or overhead lighting.

Therapy rooms

There are two therapy rooms that are accessed from the waiting area.  The doors all have straight handles to open the doors.  Please wait to be invited into a room; if the doors are closed, the rooms are likely to be in use, but someone will be with you for your allocated appointment time.

The width of the internal doors to our therapy rooms are as follows:

Room 1 - 85cm 

Room 2 - 72cm

The seating in Room 1 consists of two armchairs, whose seats are 65cm wide, 50cm deep, and 41cm high.  The arms of the chairs are firm and fabric covered.

The seating in Room 2 consists of two armchairs, whose seats are 89cm wide, 60cm deep, and 46cm high.  The arms of the chairs are firm and fabric covered.

The lighting in these rooms will be either standard lamps over overhead lighting supported by natural light from the large external windows (covered in muslin curtains for privacy).

Toilets

On the fourth floor

Ladies' toilets, containing three small cubicles, are situated next door to our practice.

Men’s toilets with two cubicles and two urinals are situated further along the corridor from our practice door, accessed through one set of double doors.

A gender-neutral bathroom is situated further along the corridor and round the corner from our practice door through two sets of double doors. This is a single, larger cubicle. The door clearance is 70cm, there is a 228cm turning circle space, however currently this bathroom does not have grab bars installed.

Accessible toilets

An accessible toilet cubicle with grab bars and a red cord is situated on the:

  • 1st floor

  • 3rd floor

  • 5th floor of the building

Changing Places Toilet (CPT)

The nearest Changing Places Toilet is available at Glasgow Central Station on Gordon Street, approximately 320 metres distance from our building. This CPT is registered to older standards.

 

The nearest CPT registered at current standards is located within St Enoch Centre, approximately 483 metres from our building.

Additional accessibility notes

Assistance dogs

Assistance dogs and guide dogs are welcome in our spaces while accompanying their owners. If you will bring your assistance dog to the practice, please inform us in advance of your session. We are glad to provide water bowls on request.

Printed materials

We are glad to provide large print and coloured paper versions of our forms and worksheets. Please request this by contacting us directly in advance of your session.

Clients with a hearing impairment

We do not have a permanent induction loop or infrared hearing enhancement system installed. If you would benefit from the provision of a portable induction loop system for your one-to-one sessions in our practice, please let us know by discussing this during the initial consultation process.

Virtual Access

We are glad to provide secure online sessions via Zoom for your convenience.  Please ensure you are able to attend such sessions in a private space where your confidentiality can be maintained.
